One of the most influential music producers in Britain, Simon Cowell is known worldwide as a judge of such famous projects as "American Idol", "America's Got Talent", "British Idol", "Britain's Got Talent", as well as "The X Factor" on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. He was born in 1959 in one of the neighborhoods of London, and his family is of Jewish and Polish descent. Simon started his career working as one of the executives in EMI recording company and began trying himself as a producer of a few musical groups. At the end of the 1990s, he worked with a few musicians and a few TV programs which were all great experiences for him. In 2001 he became taking part in his first "Idol" franchise related projects established in Britain. Cowell founded his own recording company Syco, which now includes three parts: one for cinema, one for TV, and one for music related projects. Since 2004 Cowell has been closely involved in various talent shows, both in America and the UK. He is famous for his very much direct and sometimes a bit rude comments on the contestants.
