Stan Lee was an epic American author, comic book writer, producer, and activist known as the one behind many Marvel comics. Born Stanley Martin Lieber in 1922 in NYC, he grew up in Manhattan in a Jewish family and enjoyed writing since his early teen ages. His dream was to write the greatest American novel. When he was 18 years old he started working as an assistant in a magazine. These were the times when he started getting interested in creating comics. Years of practice and a few professional training courses helped him to polish his skills, so in the 1950s, in collaboration with other artists like Jack Kirby, Lee started creating his most famous characters like Spider Man, Iron Man, Hulk, the characters of the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Avengers, and other iconic comics characters known now around the world so well. Lee was the main comics creator of Marvel and is considered to be one of the main experts on graphic novels of all time. In the first decades of the 21st century, Stan Lee received proper recognition and plenty of important awards for his creative work. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 95, as a result of complications caused by pneumonia.
