William Carroll Smith Jr. is an American cinema actor and hip hop singer, born in 1968 in Philadelphia. Since his childhood Will was very interested in music and started performing as a rap singer since he was 12. He demonstrated diligence and great success in school, so he was offered a scholarship in MIT, but preferred developing his career as a rap singer. Together with his friend, Jeff Towens, Smith released two albums which became platinum and brought two Grammy awards and a lot of income to the two young people. However, Smith had a lot of debts and started taking part in small TV projects, in order to make the ends meet. His cinema debut took place in 1992, with the movie "Where the Day Takes You" and some real success and worldwide recognition came to Smith with the movie Bad Boys, directed by Michael Bay and still considered to be one of the best examples of an action comedy. Summer 1997 was marked by a new success, with the movie "Men In Black" where Smith starred together with Tommy Lee Jones. Followed by "Wild Wild West" and "Enemy of the State", in 2001 one more excellent performance of Smith took him to the peak of his career when he portrayed Mohammad Ali, a famous boxer. For quite a long time Smith was the highest paid actor in Hollywood. Along with his acting career, he continued doing music and releasing his songs. In the 2000s he was invited to play in a few movies, including the sequels of Bad Boys and Men In Black, as well as "I Robot", "I Am Legend", "After Earth", "Concussion". He delivered a notable performance in the movie Karate Kid, where he appeared together with his son, Jaden Smith. Will is a Baptist and an active promoter of same-sex marriage. He himself was married twice and has 3 children, including a daughter and a son with his second wife, Jada Pinkett.
